Functional Hatha Yoga - Friday 31 May 09.00 - 13.15
There is a very interesting view of the practice of Yoga oriented to postural alignment such as in the tradition of Yoga Iyengar: The relationship with the general functionality of the human body. The paradigm is that although apparently most of the practice involves static positions and one might think that the dynamic function is lacking, it is actually not so and the effect can be a more functional definitive body and mind. In this workshop a power point will illustrate the concept and different asana sequences will be practiced and discussed.
Active and non-active people will find teachings that can open new dimensions in the practice of physical exercise.
Sportsmen can find an intelligent challenge that completes their mind and body activities. Sedentary people can find the motivations that will lead to the change they need and they probably know they need ... It's a valuable and very useful link between the ancient science of Yoga and the fitness of today.
The workshop program includes 45 minutes of Power Point held in English and Italian; 2 hours of laboratory with guided exercises, analysis and discussion; 60 minutes of Hatha Yoga session; latest Q & A and closure.
N.B. The seminar can provide 4 YACEP training credits for teachers registered in the Yoga Alliance.
Hatha Yoga Flow -Saturday 1st June 11.30am - 12.45am
A Hatha Yoga style based on the postural alignment taught in a fluid way. Julio has studied and practiced Iyengar Yoga for almost a decade. Despite popular belief that it is mostly a static Yoga style, it is also very often taught in dynamic sequences. What characterizes this type of sequence is that it underlines the most important actions to take in transitions and asanas. There is an implicit healing process linked to the liberation and normalization of the breath; each sequence prepares a final pose called "peak pose" that is practiced during a minimum number of breathing cycles. In the end the practitioner finds a door to another level of understanding; new insights can appear during the lesson. We must observe and listen.
The session will mainly be taught in English. "Peak Poses" can be taught in English and Italian.
